Just in the nick of time to take it on holiday! Yay!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfpFEcE7dN2m5q9-PVfmU8-CMAHJ27mP9GUZ1_Re7DACmEqxVHXAx2u2P65vDKqlw5ktO7HoFHIOkCGaJZ1XTEvNXizl3D8DmqNqOjSx1MBPXRECV38nYmPSdhVuu20bYXR3pbdjDQswU/s640/blogger-image-1275117978.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfpFEcE7dN2m5q9-PVfmU8-CMAHJ27mP9GUZ1_Re7DACmEqxVHXAx2u2P65vDKqlw5ktO7HoFHIOkCGaJZ1XTEvNXizl3D8DmqNqOjSx1MBPXRECV38nYmPSdhVuu20bYXR3pbdjDQswU/s400/blogger-image-1275117978.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I used Essex Linen to finish off the front patchwork section and on the back, it's a bit thicker fabric and adds a bit of stability. I bound it in black, thinking that if the pouch was floating around in my travel bag, the car and the caravan it might get grubby on the edges!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYcB8UsmrBOwCUvLMXm-EwT2TNAbO9Ow84YZxxNq9ZZERYBBeEcPvvtz4ed5evyo-aW8x8gHt28LySHK4roErw-q6ADTRs8afT65wyRvOgNre5R-cYe7kM8B8eHBMhV1Nde_I_E7HcoFc/s640/blogger-image--2006512231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYcB8UsmrBOwCUvLMXm-EwT2TNAbO9Ow84YZxxNq9ZZERYBBeEcPvvtz4ed5evyo-aW8x8gHt28LySHK4roErw-q6ADTRs8afT65wyRvOgNre5R-cYe7kM8B8eHBMhV1Nde_I_E7HcoFc/s400/blogger-image--2006512231.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I copied <a href="http://flyingblindonarocketcycle.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/give-me-liberty-please.html">Hadley's</a> idea of using the Tesco pencil case instead of the 'hard to find' vinyl for one of the side pockets, I used the blue safety pin fabric as the visible under fabric which I love!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0AiB8RPr5fzev0pw4F8zFeSuiLswZclcRJtmeFcRuPxBb63-L2wJpGGUQcrhe5fDB26FW969KJgqfZy-UNBISpfiSOITCUtWjbfgmVdm5fquNNoCpPm6xb6XE-cLDkjssctg0XO5j5g/s640/blogger-image--1038343728.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0AiB8RPr5fzev0pw4F8zFeSuiLswZclcRJtmeFcRuPxBb63-L2wJpGGUQcrhe5fDB26FW969KJgqfZy-UNBISpfiSOITCUtWjbfgmVdm5fquNNoCpPm6xb6XE-cLDkjssctg0XO5j5g/s400/blogger-image--1038343728.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I made the needle book section with some fab aqua coloured felt, and another pencil case for the lower pocket. I did bind the vinyl but it turned out way too skinny and barely covered the edges, so I sewed some coordinating ribbon over it instead!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4dJEOTXzSkKTohiGunT22x9hzR7b9iZ0qWRf8yL5psJliV2Y8OezvnVXA3bop7pTAT5jcZxWJYAVRaTgKduGABrGyS1yvMbj05psdCJqxa1N1KEapLtwYA6RaKJm4BAEAAK0bWsq0Clk/s640/blogger-image-2036490517.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4dJEOTXzSkKTohiGunT22x9hzR7b9iZ0qWRf8yL5psJliV2Y8OezvnVXA3bop7pTAT5jcZxWJYAVRaTgKduGABrGyS1yvMbj05psdCJqxa1N1KEapLtwYA6RaKJm4BAEAAK0bWsq0Clk/s400/blogger-image-2036490517.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also added some elastics, with a button in the middle, so that I could attach some cotton and my scissors.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm really pleased with how it turned out, it took some brain power in the middle there to pull it all together but I got there in the end! And my hexie project fits inside just great!</div>
<div>

I'm sad our holiday is over for another year but we have spent some wonderful time together as a family and made some happy memories.<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First there was a lovely package of Summersville from Lu Summers.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjovZa07Sn6e5ryyVyBa0CQV9eUgEm1W-6hyphenhyphen94DffwUM40SFhPNtSFfqqViAzwxUMZve1MapJ3gI1WAq6CVRv1ABSb3YewNx-YRwrfXdIeFJxTejaJevZDHEcrrmwSaco6AFX_FXczricM/s640/blogger-image--772281160.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjovZa07Sn6e5ryyVyBa0CQV9eUgEm1W-6hyphenhyphen94DffwUM40SFhPNtSFfqqViAzwxUMZve1MapJ3gI1WAq6CVRv1ABSb3YewNx-YRwrfXdIeFJxTejaJevZDHEcrrmwSaco6AFX_FXczricM/s400/blogger-image--772281160.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then came an FMF package from Loom and Shuttle on Etsy.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlZuCiJs_9zKN265g5awrvwQXiupNM9onSdRZ4J13Fn2fkXhTKvx3wNpSZCfWxDcu4QwO_6xMctM4AYHuXvYMaEyd_6ROs8lm7EHfnvGuPW7TzYTmGKFtfa5uPh6wPREUKpjcj8sV_N0E/s640/blogger-image-1615492569.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlZuCiJs_9zKN265g5awrvwQXiupNM9onSdRZ4J13Fn2fkXhTKvx3wNpSZCfWxDcu4QwO_6xMctM4AYHuXvYMaEyd_6ROs8lm7EHfnvGuPW7TzYTmGKFtfa5uPh6wPREUKpjcj8sV_N0E/s400/blogger-image-1615492569.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And finally another FMF purchase, this time from Sew Fresh Fabrics.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_I3EnxSrRuL0kmq-bQlusSZNq5Kf_xd-SzLlYkwtlBwhp66m_fD3J5uJ9MUnLaNbDb54PvuU-eo58su63mNyX2RtCaMFaJiST7HWpgIBXyJyq1HIHkkUowTwk1JRcdTKTHUj_wNUBAJk/s640/blogger-image--1297458578.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_I3EnxSrRuL0kmq-bQlusSZNq5Kf_xd-SzLlYkwtlBwhp66m_fD3J5uJ9MUnLaNbDb54PvuU-eo58su63mNyX2RtCaMFaJiST7HWpgIBXyJyq1HIHkkUowTwk1JRcdTKTHUj_wNUBAJk/s400/blogger-image--1297458578.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My collection of Flea Market Fancy is now about as complete as I can find for the moment and it's looking mighty pretty in my cupboard there!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've had a busy week this week;</div>
<div>
Dress fitting with my friend - doesn't she look beautiful! And it's only the fitting!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT66C-Y0X0Ln4M5YjwE8FT1fZQ3EgtRfxXXjfPVJoH_wOjNSdRWCNzTLkGkcA0pnmT0uU9SmEO6U-NGjRR3_kmzPwP-ERQIhIXZnaXWCX_dGHVjMoYj1tHhuYk2a2NwU1oIVKYxQltWkw/s640/blogger-image--405036490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT66C-Y0X0Ln4M5YjwE8FT1fZQ3EgtRfxXXjfPVJoH_wOjNSdRWCNzTLkGkcA0pnmT0uU9SmEO6U-NGjRR3_kmzPwP-ERQIhIXZnaXWCX_dGHVjMoYj1tHhuYk2a2NwU1oIVKYxQltWkw/s400/blogger-image--405036490.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And I'm going to be Matron of Honour - so that means another posh frock... !!!</div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Trying very hard to finish my sewing pouch from Patchwork, Please!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinaM3h1C9SBS85rDCqiNs_bQb6O5cxgmZ1GQfgvV-OtTd6caUiS0aQh04UWgwhMSWg95eJh_zHhsVVQBI-4mwoP6cnRRAXVGiacD0uRFj1hEs3PXoKtrNDkyS0LVRfhWgRdr9dmu44baU/s640/blogger-image-1121054228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinaM3h1C9SBS85rDCqiNs_bQb6O5cxgmZ1GQfgvV-OtTd6caUiS0aQh04UWgwhMSWg95eJh_zHhsVVQBI-4mwoP6cnRRAXVGiacD0uRFj1hEs3PXoKtrNDkyS0LVRfhWgRdr9dmu44baU/s400/blogger-image-1121054228.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's all done! This is the back, the sun was going down and the light was fading so I didn't take any other pics of the interior, but I'm really pleased to be able to take it on holiday TOMORROW!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I've been packing today... Yay - the long awaited holiday to France starts at the crack of dawn tomorrow so I won't be seeing you for about 10 days (unless there's fabulous wifi at our campsite - which I doubt!). We're all packed and the sat nav is programmed with our first stop in France - The Calais Wine Superstore! Gotta have your priorities right!<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My next door neighbour has her first wobbly tooth at the ripe old age of eight and she asked me to make her a tooth pillow out of some scraps of owl fabric. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
How hard could it be? A little square cushion...</div>

My mistake was trying to stitch on a tiny scrap of owl Minky! Too small and too stretchy! Only after completion did I realise that it was only just big enough for a £1 coin, if the tooth fairy has big fingers she might not get in that little pocket to get the tooth out!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I showed it to mum and she deemed it perfect and fit for purpose and is sure M will love it - so that'll have to be good enough for me this time around as I have no more owl fabric left!</div>
<div>

<div>
Onto the Patchwork, Please! Embroidery Pouch... I can't tell you how many times I have had Mr Seam Ripper out on this! Check out those uneven seam allowances!</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
The chances of this being finished by Sunday night when we go on holiday are so slim considering the washing and packing I have to do...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hope everyone else has had some slightly more productive sewing time than me!<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Monday was a very happy post day with the arrival of some of my Flea Market Fancy purchases. This bundle came on sale from <a href="http://patchfabrics.co.uk/">Patch Fabrics</a>.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdoP40RckZWSSqZCfFBADkSNJ2p-V7K6CJ9HVV1sQ1W-quKomIZGvOIzwCoCucbWhUj3alCJ53on6uWY-mRotzmt5OQ5LO-naiOt_oN7g-dNFF4OKJERfoDcOhr5tdNbc3_hGaX6vEdN4/s640/blogger-image--1923668327.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdoP40RckZWSSqZCfFBADkSNJ2p-V7K6CJ9HVV1sQ1W-quKomIZGvOIzwCoCucbWhUj3alCJ53on6uWY-mRotzmt5OQ5LO-naiOt_oN7g-dNFF4OKJERfoDcOhr5tdNbc3_hGaX6vEdN4/s400/blogger-image--1923668327.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Later in the week this lovely bundle of Sketch, Essex Linen and a Comma mini charm pack arrived from <a href="http://simplysolids.co.uk/">Simply Solids</a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxM5GaM8gF5wqQ3VMT9K_R5tMN4EViB-q2Mz_bi3nMAKl4UMoDqEYxfS7Dz3PEZeB-Zx-OWFErY7zf8p5gmwhrqYg9Rv3eE_SVJSf8Tl5M8GudlKEyh3bnwR9BeIf6W8V0LjAnIdWhLkg/s640/blogger-image-571481849.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxM5GaM8gF5wqQ3VMT9K_R5tMN4EViB-q2Mz_bi3nMAKl4UMoDqEYxfS7Dz3PEZeB-Zx-OWFErY7zf8p5gmwhrqYg9Rv3eE_SVJSf8Tl5M8GudlKEyh3bnwR9BeIf6W8V0LjAnIdWhLkg/s400/blogger-image-571481849.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm going to make hexies with the mini charm pack.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A trip to Ikea yielded some storage boxes, lint roller, a fab 100% cotton alphabet duvet cover and a hanging rail... Now to persuade him indoors to put it up on the freshly decorated sewing room wall!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLXbdexPGeEluEKeCmKWM9Th79K4THFHZ-ch7TiKU4baL2T7VJUFf2py7SlVVlKqGDGWo06Bx020zZjlzd00X2QLjfVP7_LwUUiN9_5tip-1ekmyvvvjcdNclutGxV-SeODqKTYp41iIg/s640/blogger-image--1028106311.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLXbdexPGeEluEKeCmKWM9Th79K4THFHZ-ch7TiKU4baL2T7VJUFf2py7SlVVlKqGDGWo06Bx020zZjlzd00X2QLjfVP7_LwUUiN9_5tip-1ekmyvvvjcdNclutGxV-SeODqKTYp41iIg/s400/blogger-image--1028106311.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And finally, from the car boot sale this morning, another fab Ikea duvet cover, this one is king size with 4 pillowcases all for £3! And some lovely bright cottons from a lady who was destashing.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br /></div>
<div>
I have spent all my birthday money so hopefully I'll be getting a few more packages next week!<br />
<br />
If anyone would like to take a snap or two of their fabric scrap storage to link up or if you'd like to comment on my post <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/fabric-scrap-storage-linky-page.html">HERE</a>, I'd be grateful for any advice on the subject!</div>

And for <a href="http://myplvl.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/sunday-organizing-fat-quarters.html">Val's Sunday Organising</a> Linky, here's a look at my fat quarter storage. The left hand box has FQ's stored in fabric lines; Little Apples, Field Study, Backyard Baby, Pezzy Prints and some grey and yellow fabrics pulled for a quilt I've had on my mind for a while.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<br />
The right hand box is more of a stash box and has started to be arranged by colour, but it's not quite there yet! The upright box on the lower shelf holds my Tufted Tweets, my sewing themed prints, my Kokka type prints and some more random FQ's.<br />
</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWRJ2Vg3h1xPR9wF2k1K2g6BhEh37oxgIAqUrS8ULUMCYJdReto7oH4nusNFV0gcmHIyQkjgbjA09L0-g6Q9uQClBZrsOZmUQGmDfWY7-0uKMp6rte4rQ1arvvCbW4-QAl9AwBwEAsegE/s640/blogger-image-50273020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWRJ2Vg3h1xPR9wF2k1K2g6BhEh37oxgIAqUrS8ULUMCYJdReto7oH4nusNFV0gcmHIyQkjgbjA09L0-g6Q9uQClBZrsOZmUQGmDfWY7-0uKMp6rte4rQ1arvvCbW4-QAl9AwBwEAsegE/s400/blogger-image-50273020.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love these pop up storage boxes from Ikea, whatever won't fit in my sewing cupboard will probably end up in my bedroom drawers!<br />
<br />
So there you have it, not an extensive stash but it is mine! :o)</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5VyaDT0Lmglpqfwu1kLECW7Yi95aFcxOEMHrT7y3ppOIGMb6ROqlWQmdrsSoJli9f_ABYi80Uk5ixEhU0x5ToXdjQlEc-24rgfXq7U6DKCY5zP2Fhvg3cWm_neUEADdXukZpzPAaPJZc/s640/blogger-image--524697373.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5VyaDT0Lmglpqfwu1kLECW7Yi95aFcxOEMHrT7y3ppOIGMb6ROqlWQmdrsSoJli9f_ABYi80Uk5ixEhU0x5ToXdjQlEc-24rgfXq7U6DKCY5zP2Fhvg3cWm_neUEADdXukZpzPAaPJZc/s400/blogger-image--524697373.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But the way I store and organise my scraps needs some consideration and attention!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I haven't been sewing and quilting for long, just a couple of years and most of the quilts I have made so far have been using a line of fabrics by one designer. There were a couple of Central Park by Kate Spain, a Picnic Fairgrounds by Denyse Schmidt, a Sherbet Pips by Aneela Hoey... And so all my scraps are stored in zip lok baggies by their fabric line, not by size or colour.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiagi0UYaYouh70RRfpe2wcBqOCCe09M8PRUgnCFa-atAHeucwCB0E0eVNUohpX96SuoBIQEakBr9NSAQLclBzs2MMIETrxRVSw4pasas8Pxh3-f7wcmmQKx0vCuHzMEqLQ8MSgO2scOdc/s640/blogger-image-121158600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiagi0UYaYouh70RRfpe2wcBqOCCe09M8PRUgnCFa-atAHeucwCB0E0eVNUohpX96SuoBIQEakBr9NSAQLclBzs2MMIETrxRVSw4pasas8Pxh3-f7wcmmQKx0vCuHzMEqLQ8MSgO2scOdc/s400/blogger-image-121158600.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I have some scraps in a small pile, some flannel strips in a bag (that I won), and a small lidded plastic crate for selvedges.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ab8REZ78K5MW1R45f_WcGw4ms_X_0aF9hBoychESGgdnK2M0D2pqo73pbzMn8XsUGB-4NNo18a1Cma6wa1aI38vXuMd6SViHfNh_XZX72Vz8jPAVfZrVWl8SaOuJcetAe53RsIJ1Svw/s640/blogger-image-1023268995.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ab8REZ78K5MW1R45f_WcGw4ms_X_0aF9hBoychESGgdnK2M0D2pqo73pbzMn8XsUGB-4NNo18a1Cma6wa1aI38vXuMd6SViHfNh_XZX72Vz8jPAVfZrVWl8SaOuJcetAe53RsIJ1Svw/s400/blogger-image-1023268995.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And then I have the really small scraps in empty tennis ball tubes by colour. These I'm saving up for a <a href="http://www.stitchedincolor.com/2011/02/bottled-rainbows-ticker-tape-quilt.html">bottled rainbows quilt</a> one day!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUYGr6kSvSqpq0aYJ2hIbp_P4mKftEXpSFyt0WTBDLg4pdOMBO5CzEmxZ90OgLpB2Jo2ktVcedm2uXJUj8yuRidPuPXpjKVPr73CCS4dAmcyG2y8HSY7IoNrNturm6iW8icL7gHjXTO3U/s640/blogger-image-776707931.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUYGr6kSvSqpq0aYJ2hIbp_P4mKftEXpSFyt0WTBDLg4pdOMBO5CzEmxZ90OgLpB2Jo2ktVcedm2uXJUj8yuRidPuPXpjKVPr73CCS4dAmcyG2y8HSY7IoNrNturm6iW8icL7gHjXTO3U/s400/blogger-image-776707931.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But what constitutes a scrap? How small is small enough to throw away? I am very frugal and seem to keep pretty much everything! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'd really love to hear how you organise and store your fabric scraps. I found a linky party on the subject over at <a href="http://myplvl.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/sunday-organizing-fabric-scraps.html">Val's Quilting Studio</a> but it's just about to close, so I'll open a <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/fabric-scrap-storage.html">linky</a> of my own and you can all share with me here! I'll leave it open for a week to give you some time to snap a few pics.<br />
</div>
<div>
Alternatively if you are on Instagram and would like to join in there please tag me in your pictures @quiltycreations #fabricscrapstorage<br />
<br />
Looking forward to seeing your scrappy pics!<br />

Time for the July round up and <a href="http://lilysquilts.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/fresh-sewing-day-and-small-blog-meet.html">Fresh Sewing Day</a> already!?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Blimey... time flies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
The heat of the long awaited British Summer is reflected in the fact that my July mosaic is full of small makes and not big quilts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3XagRxnRZDKFUK5J_zPR4-Ny0vCjwKHkwkhTRQwQHizCNrMlWtTTuH7Ijeh0VbjzAiA_T47PySOeo9n3szgRlcgVx2LdcHzg9UcyWVKR3iTptnZ8pPCr78vMjnPfk-iu1oio-ZM2L8V8/s1600/July+mosaic.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3XagRxnRZDKFUK5J_zPR4-Ny0vCjwKHkwkhTRQwQHizCNrMlWtTTuH7Ijeh0VbjzAiA_T47PySOeo9n3szgRlcgVx2LdcHzg9UcyWVKR3iTptnZ8pPCr78vMjnPfk-iu1oio-ZM2L8V8/s400/July+mosaic.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I started July with my <a href="http://shecanquilt.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/karens-baby-ribbon-blankies-2013-fal.html">tutorial</a> for Baby Minky Ribbon Blankies being featured as part of the 2013 Finish Along over at She Can Quilt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I cut my teeth on zippers with a couple of easy peasy <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/ouch-pouch.html">pouches</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I made a little <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/something-old-something-new-challenge.html">coaster</a> with the scraps from my old potholder, now scissor holder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I managed the <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/anyone-for-tea.html">Teabag Pouch</a> from the Zakka 2.0 Sewalong from Patchwork, Please!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And then there was my lovely <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/my-first-mini-quilt.html">mini quilt</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
In the bottom right hand corner of the mosaic there is a little preview of the beginnings of my Embroidery Pouch, also from Patchwork, Please! I haven't blogged about this yet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I hosted my first linky party in July with the <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/something-old-something-new-linky-party.html">Something Old Something New Challenge</a> and it was great fun seeing what everyone linked up and arranging the giveaway!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And of course I have been plugging away at the hexies! They've been to Hayling Island camping, junior roller disco, football camp... All the hexies are made and half the table runner is sewn together now! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I'm loving this portable little project so much that I bought a mini charm pack of Comma to take on holiday with me. The charms are 2.5" square, so I think I'll need a 1" hexy? Maybe 1.25"?... Has anyone made a hexy project using mini charm squares? Can anyone point me in the direction of some printable hexy templates?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
My birthday was in there somewhere and with birthday money burning a hole in my pocket, there has been lots of fabric stashing going on! During August I'm planning the UK Fabric Stashers Blog Hop where we will be looking at what we are buying for our stashes and from where - highlighting some great UK fabric stores along the way. So if you would like to flash your stash, promote your LQS, or if you are a UK based fabric shop and would like sponsor a giveaway during the hop, please get in touch!</div>

<br />
I was thinking of making a mini quilt to hang up and then last week Heidi @ <a href="http://fabricmutt.blogspot.co.uk/">Fabric Mutt</a> guest posted the <a href="http://www.jedicraftgirl.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/chevron-doll-quilt-tutorial-contributor.html">tutorial</a> for this little cutie over at <a href="http://www.jedicraftgirl.blogspot.co.uk/">Jedi Craft Girl</a>.<br />
<br />
So here is my Chevron Doll Quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHcyjQ_A0mS-_STsysY8GcxPLKtwLwtuKLUx-5KifDfxYq3m0qjAjr3dQuvuL7gHKFNSA_7fjGEKGykzLkKfcSX52XmxZKAyS5m4zxC5K7xvfQjgWUMfGghEnHNW_iipo0f_Lzo4gosD8/s1600/dq1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHcyjQ_A0mS-_STsysY8GcxPLKtwLwtuKLUx-5KifDfxYq3m0qjAjr3dQuvuL7gHKFNSA_7fjGEKGykzLkKfcSX52XmxZKAyS5m4zxC5K7xvfQjgWUMfGghEnHNW_iipo0f_Lzo4gosD8/s400/dq1a.jpg" width="382" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
Made with scraps including Central Park by Kate Spain, Picnic Fairgrounds by Denyse Schmidt and Aneela Hoey Sherbet Pips.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Gvljq5F1SVfaJxyMFXA7fRZEydME2-Ros2h9SfnpMMq2mptMJ1OwSnR0u3jjzSwSYwiRt8FP7udnolAJt5AHVhAq7hDGkq3VICEVEKgYPe7_yusEuBeAEHXKlEPTKl3208zUFVs97w0/s640/blogger-image--280716614.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6Gvljq5F1SVfaJxyMFXA7fRZEydME2-Ros2h9SfnpMMq2mptMJ1OwSnR0u3jjzSwSYwiRt8FP7udnolAJt5AHVhAq7hDGkq3VICEVEKgYPe7_yusEuBeAEHXKlEPTKl3208zUFVs97w0/s400/blogger-image--280716614.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I really wanted to bind it in black polka dot but haven't got any, so black and white safety pins it is - and that just happened to be out on the table already! I backed it in a yellow solid and hand quilted it in white, variegated yellow/orange and blue/purple Pearl cotton.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgojNSlGeGGEqZlbIkeuF8GB0JgecOfHTt8aTbR6CPXD-k8o10-rpZexGwj_2ZkTCKbo0ADVUIgMgLDcVXBNV96_tAi6q9GZYqyyHKQZdjb6pOQJ-pRj9a1VhBQzS6HaqNFExJNtyUWFZc/s640/blogger-image--117579932.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgojNSlGeGGEqZlbIkeuF8GB0JgecOfHTt8aTbR6CPXD-k8o10-rpZexGwj_2ZkTCKbo0ADVUIgMgLDcVXBNV96_tAi6q9GZYqyyHKQZdjb6pOQJ-pRj9a1VhBQzS6HaqNFExJNtyUWFZc/s640/blogger-image--117579932.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
It finished up at 13" square, perfect.<br />
<br />
And now to hang it... I had some lovely red and white bakers twine that I was going to string up, but do you think I can find it? No! Then I remembered 2 small measuring tapes that came out of Christmas crackers, I have sewn them together and if I can ever find the drawing pins they will be used instead!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Edited to add the hanging pictures!</div>

Large glass of wine in hand... Enough said!<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
Not wanting to do too much on my hexy project as I'd like to take it on holiday with me I decided to pull fabrics for another project.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div>
They along with these random bits and bobs will be incorporated into my next project.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi25M_DJG3vb5uPkSeeTLw8CBZ70m_A8mP_2KxyspFwkuCKV-Qj9X-08Ulb0kFupfR1GqClZMZH091yo31ON4UMebjoPd6An-NznvSXhK1oQdZ5Gc5D7UMWeiBuMImFc8rsE2o0ZN5tsBc/s640/blogger-image--594977219.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi25M_DJG3vb5uPkSeeTLw8CBZ70m_A8mP_2KxyspFwkuCKV-Qj9X-08Ulb0kFupfR1GqClZMZH091yo31ON4UMebjoPd6An-NznvSXhK1oQdZ5Gc5D7UMWeiBuMImFc8rsE2o0ZN5tsBc/s400/blogger-image--594977219.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
On a completely unrelated note, look at these super cute fine tipped mini sharpie pens I found! I laid them next to a regular pen so you can gauge their size. There were more colours available so I may have to go back and get some more and experiment with some larger quilt labels.<br />
<br />
And now a proposition! I've found some Sketch on sale at £4.80 per half metre but I really can't afford to be that extravagant, I was thinking more along the lines of Fat Quarters, does anyone in the UK want to go halves with me on these colours? Yellow, Red, Pink, Denim & Spring. I'll order them, cut in half and post the bundle to you. That's £2.40 per quarter meter x 5 colours = £12 plus a little postage. <br />

I would like to point out that when attaching your elastic/ribbon/string for the closure, lay your exterior fabric rectangle right side facing up, place your closure in the middle of the top edge with the raw edges overhanging the raw edge of fabric and sew in place - in the same way as attaching ribbons to the baby blankie seen here.</div>

I can't believe we are into our final week of the Challenge already! July has flown by! If you haven't entered yet you have until Midnight this Friday, 26th July, GMT London time. The Something Old Something New Challenge guidelines can be seen <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/something-old-something-new-challenge.html">here</a> but really there's not a lot to it, just link up something made with vintage materials, something you've given a makeover, something you have repurposed and given a new lease of life!<br />
<br />
The linky party page is <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/something-old-something-new-linky-party.html">HERE</a> and remember every entry is a chance to win this lovely bundle of Vintage sheet and button goodness<br />

For my Something Old Something New item this week, I have this tea cozy that Lucas bought me at the Mothers Day Shopping event at school earlier in the year. Bless him, he knows I love a good cuppa but he didn't really understand what a tea cozy was and that we actually don't have a tea pot!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
I thought I could take it apart and perhaps put the circular design over an embroidery hoop to hang in the sewing room or is that too easy? I have lots of pot holders already so what else could I do with it? Make it the centre of a table runner, a placemat perhaps? I'd love to hear any ideas you might have!<br />

And this one I think is a ladder stitch </div>

<div>
Obviously my ladder stitch looks neater but it takes longer. Am I not doing the whip stitch right or will it improve with practice? Which stitch do you all use?<br />

I really should measure the table top to see how many I'm going to need!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
It was another scorcher of a day here in the UK today so I sat with my feet in our little foot spa of a paddling pool and started unpicking the pirate quilt top.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
The stitch they used is sooo small that it's impossible to get the seam ripper in there, so I'm having to pull the seams apart and rip it from the front (right side).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I took a couple of pieces off the edge but look</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I don't think I'm going to be able to resurrect the charms to be used with a 1/4 inch seam allowance with all those holes in there that won't scratch off with a finger nail rub!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I'm going to pop them in the wash tomorrow with my dark load and see if that helps it re-knit at all but I doubt it. It looks like I'll have 2 choices;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Remove the outer sashing and keep the inner squares as is, adding to them with the extras I have</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Or</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Cut the whole thing apart, see what's left and make something new from scratch!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
We'll see...</div>

I just got back from an amazing weekend away camping down at Hayling Island so I need to be quick to squeeze in my Sunday Stash report!<br />
<br />
My first picture is actually of a gift from my friend Judith, she is encouraging me to finish the backing for my Black and White bed quilt and gave me these 4 FQ's as an incentive! What a sweetie!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
A little piece of cute Blend Fabrics Tinsel Collection - Trees on Blue - well the whole Christmas in July thing is going on right? An FQ of Riley Blakes So Sophie Collection Blue Dots and Spots - I bought this one for the mustardy colour as I have none of this in my stash, and 2 FQ's of Michael Miller Mending Madness in green and pink.</div>

<div>
I received a surprise in the post this week in the form of this part made quilt top!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br /></div>
<div>
Here it is hung over my garden gate, so you can judge that it's a fair size!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I placed an order with Prints to Polka Dots for some Pirate Matey FQ's and charm squares. <br />
They emailed me that they were unable to complete my order, would I happy to receive what they had...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixUV6EucU45J6r8IEDu__DQj0L5kiv1eqCPQlFqDuCxvqWVLMt2tdTk4a8m9zM5iyYHxpzqjH0P7qnefW5-wn6p2XcDHMwnE8Cd_ZIfprJDU-utaVu-i8EpYQwAb0HEq7okpjAjoiwuQE/s1600/a3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixUV6EucU45J6r8IEDu__DQj0L5kiv1eqCPQlFqDuCxvqWVLMt2tdTk4a8m9zM5iyYHxpzqjH0P7qnefW5-wn6p2XcDHMwnE8Cd_ZIfprJDU-utaVu-i8EpYQwAb0HEq7okpjAjoiwuQE/s400/a3.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
...plus a partial quilt top they had found lying around (?!?) - I obviously said "yes please!"</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At first glance I thought that I could add to it with the fabrics they had sent me but the piecing is not quite to my liking.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEionBgiK-h_N-BVDV5gwzY6-rUiXhTCx2GbPdY6KXKseLwVCqwFjthjp2JE1RlHq-xyBhzmt0zDuD0m6qNyumpS8SigQ7p0KfdMqJ3qSHxJheEoUxy5stzQYayy0juMNOT0Fd-gMGK5BpU/s640/blogger-image-1957822538.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEionBgiK-h_N-BVDV5gwzY6-rUiXhTCx2GbPdY6KXKseLwVCqwFjthjp2JE1RlHq-xyBhzmt0zDuD0m6qNyumpS8SigQ7p0KfdMqJ3qSHxJheEoUxy5stzQYayy0juMNOT0Fd-gMGK5BpU/s400/blogger-image-1957822538.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The pieced border was strip pieced and then slung on pretty randomly, the charm squares on the corners have literally been folded in half and oversewn (?!?) and all the cotton threads were left on and some have been sewn through to the front of the fabric - see the lime cotton on the corner. I have snipped off this much so far!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Lets Get Acquainted...Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by, especially if it's your first time and via the Plum & June Lets Get Acquainted New Blogger Bog Hop.<br />
<br />
I'm Karen, you can see my photo over there in the sidebar. This is my family - their new favourite program is Duck Dynasty where EVERYTHING is camo, they were gearing up for a bit of a marathon session of it here! And not forgetting Buster, Sparkle & Delilah!<br />
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggwZAX9VWr5rIOymuxpBiFIN0Buh6s6wdD2WW3IYCgE5nR6PAWJsljIBFgF3Nv9tzXPtnymE-aosC-0cY25du_9ssxl-3REdiwiE2yqKsxRn7jbBnzavJH5C8PNoupmrluv37tFj8TUYQ/s1600/family1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggwZAX9VWr5rIOymuxpBiFIN0Buh6s6wdD2WW3IYCgE5nR6PAWJsljIBFgF3Nv9tzXPtnymE-aosC-0cY25du_9ssxl-3REdiwiE2yqKsxRn7jbBnzavJH5C8PNoupmrluv37tFj8TUYQ/s400/family1.png" width="400" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
I'm mostly a stay at home mum but I "work" at lunchtimes in the boys' school helping out the little ones in the dinner hall, this pocket money goes towards feeding my fabric habit! Can you really call one hour a day work???<br />
<br />
<strong>What is on your cutting table right now?</strong><br />
Hexies are on my cutting table right now, we are going camping this weekend and they are going to be my portable sewing project!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2IfzUcUKv46JWVxQZ88FUPi7p5SVbSBmy-uTHHWLowjR7MiF19MyRaogWt4wKccpQRcrcacXPgJcCoTEWmWWPjuHOq6kmaAc8aHkP-VqvGtWK7mtdds8BTrt99mhZDSoc5uCcYexfR5k/s640/blogger-image-348923931.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2IfzUcUKv46JWVxQZ88FUPi7p5SVbSBmy-uTHHWLowjR7MiF19MyRaogWt4wKccpQRcrcacXPgJcCoTEWmWWPjuHOq6kmaAc8aHkP-VqvGtWK7mtdds8BTrt99mhZDSoc5uCcYexfR5k/s640/blogger-image-348923931.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<strong></strong><br />
<strong>What type of sewing machine do you use?</strong><br />
I use a Toyota sewing machine. Yes they make sewing machines as well as cars! I didn't realise I was headed for quilting when I bought it, but it has served me very well so far.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAg6j1bSkFLq9mXEmOMFFlProIXcmALeVsBqBhj1X-SUwBN41hM7a3kmaAPJ5k8izkk919UGX9fzDqC8TX8moBkBLOVoX8gHFaPge9ICWaDO3ZQZZwEAMKLWkwr7899wsghYN2JvaOy7I/s1600/b2a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAg6j1bSkFLq9mXEmOMFFlProIXcmALeVsBqBhj1X-SUwBN41hM7a3kmaAPJ5k8izkk919UGX9fzDqC8TX8moBkBLOVoX8gHFaPge9ICWaDO3ZQZZwEAMKLWkwr7899wsghYN2JvaOy7I/s320/b2a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<strong>What is your favourite/least favourite part of quilting?</strong><br />
My least favourite part of quilting is the basting, I'm always worried I'll mess it up and get a baggy bit! My favourite part is sitting in the chair attaching the binding, it's the last chance to fondle the quilt before it goes off to it's new home usually!<br />
<br />
<strong>What's on your Quilting Bucket List?</strong><br />
Well Hexies were at the top of the list and I'll share my progress hopefully next week on that front, but there is so much inspiration to be found on Flickr, Instagram and on other blogs that my bookmarks list is getting longer and longer!<br />
I'd like to try applique, a drunkards path block for the curves!, FMQ - although I wonder how my machine would cope with that, and eventually tackle the Triple Zip Pouch!<br />
What's on your bucket list?<br />
<br />
<strong>What's new for you right now?</strong><br />
I moved into my new sewing room! It's still quite sparkly and tidy! You can see my full reveal post <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/sewing-room-reveal-2.html">here</a>. You can see my little fabric stash in the new cupboard.<br />
<br />

<br />
And I'm hosting my very first linky party at the moment, it's running through July and it's called The <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/something-old-something-new-challenge.html">Something Old Something New Challenge</a>. If you have made something with vintage fabrics, given an old something a new lease of life or repurposed something for use in your sewing space, then please <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/something-old-something-new-linky-party.html">link up</a> and you might even win a prize!<br />

The lovely Angela of Heart of Charnwood sent me some hexie papers and bless her she is now my go to person via email on the subject! Have you seen her <a href="http://www.heartofcharnwood.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/my-first-quilt-finished.html">amazing hexie quilt</a>? Enough said!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju5q9-AurarDVhCDtFgjMBsmYIFc6aHOQKTpATEnb9YyrybP62A5TH5p6MpFKztyoeRerbJgHOwWf-lBQk7Qh7vucHP8OjJJ_yCzXB7i90F9u8laE8JYLsa3gzMo4pvRPS9d3ilv_DR-U/s640/blogger-image-1121193848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju5q9-AurarDVhCDtFgjMBsmYIFc6aHOQKTpATEnb9YyrybP62A5TH5p6MpFKztyoeRerbJgHOwWf-lBQk7Qh7vucHP8OjJJ_yCzXB7i90F9u8laE8JYLsa3gzMo4pvRPS9d3ilv_DR-U/s640/blogger-image-1121193848.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So I made a template larger than the hexie papers and got cutting strips of fabric, and then cut them down to squares (ish!), at this point I wasn't sure if a square was acceptable to use, or if I had to cut them down to a hexie shape.... opinions vary but please feel free to add yours below!<br />
<br />
I'm using my Luna Moth prints, which I've had for absolutely ages and they are far too gorgeous to be sitting in a cupboard! Now that I have moved out of the dining room and into <a href="http://craftsfromkaren.blogspot.com/2013/06/sewing-room-reveal-2.html">'The Sewing Room'</a> (!), my lovely old Singer sewing machine table is being used to hold the Wii and Playstations etc, so I thought maybe I could make a table runner to protect it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrqIWnM0PcMo30e-a6X2rxjWVuXN0yA5WspIhfsKIXkc-doDwf8-NFBftuG0l6KBqyR2XDQVkprjtb0OejpC8wk9P7xEgtiyOw_CIPNDPToORuMXHMj8RUAs56Tvvz61qz8HBsUt3-NKE/s640/blogger-image--1470852455.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrqIWnM0PcMo30e-a6X2rxjWVuXN0yA5WspIhfsKIXkc-doDwf8-NFBftuG0l6KBqyR2XDQVkprjtb0OejpC8wk9P7xEgtiyOw_CIPNDPToORuMXHMj8RUAs56Tvvz61qz8HBsUt3-NKE/s640/blogger-image--1470852455.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Him indoors has informed me we are going camping this weekend - oh joy! - so I thought if I get all the cutting done I could take the hexies with me, my first portable sewing project! Yay!<br />
<br />
What with the weather being so nice I even took the cutting out into the garden!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<br />
Also, is it Hexie or Hexy??? Gotta get my terminology right!<br />

Jack Attack<br />
This quilt is for hubby, we had our 10th wedding anniversary back in May and this was supposed to be his gift... well as long as he gets it within the 10th year I suppose it'll be ok!<br />
I have sashed all three jacks together, so now I need to sort out a quilt back.<br />

I love a happy post day, don't you?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
My zipper sampler pack arrived from Zipit on Etsy, aren't they just gorgeous! The colours are amazing! And there is the cutest little zipper pull badge thingy attached to the red zipper, can you see it? I love little surprise additions to my packages! Oh and the Fortune Teller Fish came with them too, it says I'm passionate today apparently! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQogqSerko1sractxVmnrUBEo5s_FtBpLIQgAjiq2TCpgq9Luv8C0CO9Im-2-conisV0iPeMIOBxdPdWSzvhT2xOPjSOuM3h8OHworVkpgYQ6g339g9rA8FlhSMvya2NxnMOu5_Bi-GGw/s640/blogger-image--1445160365.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQogqSerko1sractxVmnrUBEo5s_FtBpLIQgAjiq2TCpgq9Luv8C0CO9Im-2-conisV0iPeMIOBxdPdWSzvhT2xOPjSOuM3h8OHworVkpgYQ6g339g9rA8FlhSMvya2NxnMOu5_Bi-GGw/s400/blogger-image--1445160365.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
And my quilt labels came! I ordered these cute little fusible labels from One Eyed Bee also on Etsy. Seeing as I have a load of quilts and things lying around here that haven't been labelled I figured these would be great for ironing on and then hand sewing in place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I did one straight away!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA1tds_or1UHBKAJiQx3zP3UEouiLOmOVRzNmCupFvC7p1Fq4GPfhJYCXwWqklxCds2dYAZ1RV05aZeT7jXQzJFhF-A8EEp-11bquLZDcA9I0OubTfhSNzjGeTnsljHYSCnDgJpdJXeBs/s1600/aa3a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA1tds_or1UHBKAJiQx3zP3UEouiLOmOVRzNmCupFvC7p1Fq4GPfhJYCXwWqklxCds2dYAZ1RV05aZeT7jXQzJFhF-A8EEp-11bquLZDcA9I0OubTfhSNzjGeTnsljHYSCnDgJpdJXeBs/s400/aa3a.jpg" width="313" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I know my hand sewing is shocking! But practise will make perfect and I have several more to do yet! This one is cut down to size so there is even room at each end of the label if I wanted to sew on a date as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
A trip to Lidl yielded this ironing mat for only £3.99, great for holidays and handy for crafting too!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And I'll leave you today with this picture of my little treasures enjoying the lunch at Daniel's Birthday Party on Sunday. We had such a lovely weekend, hooking up with friends and family, with a kids sleepover in the middle and the party on Sunday, how the kids were still going I don't know, I was knackered and I didn't exert half as much energy as they did!<br />
