Well I don't know about you but we had a beautifully sunny bank holiday weekend that was spent with friends, riding bikes, climbing trees, BBQing and attending the local Soap Box Derby.
Today, it bucketed down with rain ALL day... Not good for two energetic boys, so I bribed them with a new game for their iPod and got sewing up a couple of the quilted notebook covers for my teacher presents.
The first has a pieced front cover, made with a small sample I was sent in the mail, it might be Birch Fabrics, and Timeless Treasures Sketch in grey. I worked out how to add elastic for a pen holder and closure and I think it looks cute. As you can see from the size of the pen, the notebooks are quite small, I think A6 size but very handy for popping in handbags!
This one took me ages to complete so for the next one I decided to use just one piece of fabric for the outer cover, in this cute radios print that I picked up at my local Quilt Festival, it doesn't have a name on the selvedge.
I used one of the Kona solid greys as the inner linings as I seem to have yards of the stuff! I've taken loads of process pictures, so maybe I'll even have a go at writing a tutorial one of these days!
I hope to crack on and make at least 5 or 6 of these over the week - famous last words I'm sure!
