We'll start with what I consider to be the fail... then we can build up to the successes and end on a happy note, right?
The Zakka 2.0 Sewalong has begun! Hosted by Lindsay @ LR Stitched and Debbie @ A Quilters Table there's a blog hop featuring each and every project in Ayumi's totally awesome new book Patchwork Please!
The first project in the book is the Bell Pepper Coasters and Penny @ SewTakeAHike is the first stop on the hop with her take on them. She has very cleverly sized up the template and made hot pads!
I decided to stick with the book and try a coaster... I read and re-read the instructions and just wasn't getting it, so decided to use some ugly fabric just in case it all went horribly wrong, and the best that could happen would be that my ugly fabric became something cool afterall...
Say 'Hi' to my new chicken coaster! I'm certainly not going to be worried about getting tea stains on this one! Each week there is a linky party to add your finished project and potentially win a giveaway, and although I'm not sure there'll be much time for sewing tomorrow I'll try and make another one in much nicer fabrics to enter this week.
On a much happier and successful note I have finished making the 6 Quilted Notebook Covers for my teacher presents! Yay! The kids have only just returned to school after the half term break, so we have a good 6 weeks of school left. I'm NEVER usually anywhere near this organised!

I am loving the Zakka along. Your pepper has a nice shape. And I really love your quilted notbeook covers.
Love those notebook covers! I'm sure they will be a hit with the teachers
Love the note covers. I am also Zakkaing along, but the coasters wouldn't be used so I've started at the back of the book. :) I think I should also cut one block for the big flower quilt now too.
I like the chickens, especially the cheeky way that Cockerel is peeping at Mrs Hen! My zakka book just arrived today so I need to get going on this one.
Peppers and teacher gifts on my list xxx
